Green Market Indexes, ETFs and Related Information Pieces

Market indexes have been created to track the market performance of publicly traded companies around the world.  Each Index has its own characteristics and rationale for the way it is structured. 

Indexes are constructed by selecting financial atttibutes of selected companies and their weighting in the index. The index's performance is a measure of the sectors market performance.

Exchange-traded funds or ETFs seek to achieve the same return as particular market indexes.

An ETF is similar to an index fund in that it will primarily invest in the securities of companies that are included in a selected market index or a market sector. 

An ETF will invest in either all of the securities or a representative sample of the securities included in the index. 

ETFs do not sell individual shares directly to investors and only issue their shares in large blocks that are known as "Creation Units."

Indexes and ETFs are listed as research resources to help interested parties learn about green market sectors. 

Successfully building a new green business requires producing better metrics than companies that are included in green Indexes and ETFs.
